I must say now, all hats off to the production team of the new StarTrek movie (series, to be expected).
That was probably one of THE most difficult challenges ever in the history of cinematography, short as it may be, if we take my feelings and those of the millions of other StarTrek fans across the globe into consideration.
How on EARTH do you make something new that still holds true to the original StarTrek vision?
But they did it.
Yes, they did it.
Against all odds, against all expectations, against all my prejudices and fear, they found a way to create a story line that may be as different as it wants to be, as free as a bird of prey, in fact, and yet is firmly related to the original concepts, ideas and most of all, the SPIRIT of StarTrek.
Through a temporal anomalie, original Spock travels back in time with an enemy, and as he arrives, this whole new timeline comes into being which changes everything, including the characters of Spock and Kirk as their experiences are different to those of the original, or of the other timeline Kirk and Spock, that now only live in our memories.
It's a wonderful way of doing it, and a wonderful way for opening up this StarTrek to be its own thing, to find new civilisations and explore strange new worlds, and also to boldly go where Kirk and Spock and all the rest have never gone before.
Very impressed, a big kudos to everyone who worked on that movie and produced a good looking, modern looking pleasing whole that really delivered ace entertainment - and without breaking the hearts of us old fans, at that.
Five stars in this timeline, and in any other.
