Conversation With A Child

The scene:

One very basic wooden hut which contains a small fireplace, one window, a door, a small rough bed, plank floors.

On the bed, we have a dishevelled man of about 30 years of age, long, untidy, greasy dark hair, stubble beard, curled up facing towards the wall with his arms around his shoulders.

Sitting on the side of the bed, we have one child, 4 1/2 years old, with a puppy sleeping at her feet. She holds a plain metal cup which contains water and some bits of leaves she thought to add to make a healing soup for him.

Outside, the afternoon is advancing.

Two Dragons

There are unknowable depths of stars in the radiant skies above.

Each one is a song, each one a beacon; each one is entirely unique and to a young dragon, of course, each one is as fascinating as the next – how could one ever choose amongst all this splendour?

Money By Magic

This is a scene from The Magician: Anna's children and husbands have gone. She has decided to learn the art of magic, and has found a magician, James, who has taken her in and promised to teach her. She lives in his house and he pays for everything, asks for nothing in return. When she questions him how he can afford this, James states that he makes his money by magic. He doesn't elucidate further, but later on that winter, Anna and James go to the market in the nearest town.

And here is the story of how James made money by magic.
